The mugunghwa, or the rose of Sharon, is an object of deep affection in The Republic of Korea. This flower means “eternal blossom that never fades”.
It has been an important symbol of Korean culture for centuries. Koreans cherish the national flower because it honors the country’s noble spirit and symbolizes the many successes as well as tribulations that the nation has experienced along the years.
To do this work I used mixed technique: freehand drawing and digital brushes to give color to my drawing. I thought about the national flower of the Republic of Korea: the rose of Sharon, to make my composition.
Not only I used digital drawings and brushes but also typographic work as a visual tool. I draw a hanbok made of Mugunghwa, The rose of Sharon, which is the protagonist of this piece radiating light in the darkness.
